What can be treated?
Acupuncture enhances the body’s healing capabilities making it effective in treating a broad range of symptoms. It is well known for its pain relieving qualities but it offers much more in addition to pain relief. People are becoming more aware of its benefits as a preventative treatment and have monthly treatments for wellbeing and stress relief. As acupuncture treats all systems and levels of the body it can be effective in treating any complaint or symptom.

The World Health Organisation(1) published a list of symptoms and disorders which acupuncture can be effective in treating:
  • Respiratory Disorders: Bronchial Asthma, Acute Bronchitis
  • Neurological and Musculo-skeletal problems: Headaches, migraines, facial palsy, trigeminal neuralgia, Meniere’s disease, shingles, post stroke syndrome, bladder dysfunction, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, sciatica, lower back pain and osteoarthritis.
  • Ear, Nose & Throat disorders: Common cold, sinusitis, tonsillitis, hay fever, rhinitis and tooth pain.
  • Gastro-Intestinal Disorders: Gastritis, indigestion, duodenal ulcer, colitis, constipation, diarrhea and hiccups.

From my own clinical experience, I have also found success in the treatment of:
  • Fertility: Acupuncture is effective in enhancing fertility
  • Pregnancy: symptoms including morning sickness, lower back pain, inflammation of the pubic symphysis, induction treatment, amongst others.
  • Paediatrics
  • Menstrual problems and symptoms of menopause
  • Thyroid problems, liver disease
  • Immune disorders
  • Complications of scars on the body
  • Stress, depression and anxiety disorders
  • Drug withdrawal (nicotine)
  • Erectile dysfunction, fertility, urinary problems, prostatitis
