Traditional Oriental Medicine believes that the human body, like all natural systems, exists in a web of inter-linking relationships. The relationships within the body range from the gross levels or systems (nervous, endocrine and vascular systems) to an unobservable subatomic level or system (atomic makeup and magnetic fields). At times, the order and information (Qi) of these systems may become imbalanced, leading to illness and disease. Therefore, the purpose of acupuncture is to diagnose and correct these imbalances to enable the body to function more efficiently and reduce relapses. This whole process is determined by the skillful and discerning use of fine needles and moxibustion.
